A shocking recording has been released by Friendly Jordies which exposes former Deputy Premier John Barilaro's alleged pork-barrelling practices. The recording, made prior to Barilaro's defamation lawsuit against Friendly Jordies, has sparked calls for an Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation into Barilaro's actions. The bombshell recording shows Barilaro boasting about the government's reckless spending of taxpayer money that was allegedly diverted to projects designed to win electorates vital to winning elections.
Barilaro was well known for his pork-barrelling practices and had even earned the nickname 'Pork Barrelaro'. In the recording, he brags about various instances of pork-barrelling, including diverting funds to win the Upper Hunter by-election, which was crucial for his party's success.
His barrister, Sue Chrysanthou, had argued that calling Barilaro 'Pork Barrelaro' was defamatory, as he had merely been helping the regions he represented. However, the recording seems to suggest otherwise.
It's worth noting that John Barilaro resigned in 2021. This story is a transcript from a recent YouTube video released by Friendly Jordies.
