NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has been caught lying to the Australian people, this time when Sky News Host Tom Connell asked “So you had no role in that particular unit being involved?” John Barilaro replied “I’ve actually made it clear Tom, I’ve said ‘absolutely not’. For you to be asking that question is an indictment on your level of journalism.”
Court documents that have now been listed and made public, now show that John Barilaro did in fact have dealings with the Fixated Persons Investigation Unit for months leading up to the arrest of Jordan Shanks producer Kristo Langker.
In a recent youtube video posted by Jordan Shanks (friendlyjordies), he shows a witness statement by John Barilaro which seems to recount events differently to what he said to Tom Connell. Which now raises doubts over what other so-called “truths” has Mr Barilaro said that are in fact lies or misleads the public and the public office that he serves.
In a NSW Police witness statement which has been published in a Youtube Video by Jordan Shanks, the statement reads:
Point 24. “About 8:30 am on Wednesday 2 December 2020, I met with Detective Sergeant McQUEEN and Detective Senior Constable LJUBOJEVIC at my office where I reported the matter. My Chief of staff, Siobhan Hamblin organised four (4) of the videos I mentioned above to be copied to USB”
Mr Barilaro also claims in the statement that he rents the property on AIRBnB, while Jordan Shanks says he booked it on STAYZ.
Now you may think that Mr Barilaro made a simple mistake when answering Mr Connell’s question, but as you can watch for yourself in the video above it seems John Barilaro had multiple times to re-think his answer and answer the question honestly. It will now be a matter from Jordan Shanks lawyer to see if they include the footage to demonstrate to the court that Mr Barilaro seems based on the Sky News footage alone to lie to the public on matters of public interest.
The use of the Fixated Persons Investigation Unit which when launched in 2017 the NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller referred to the unit were people who are “obsessed about issues, ideals or individuals” and are “plotting acts of violence” or “capable of acts of terrorism”.
It has now also been reported that the NSW Law enforcement conduct unit is now also investigating the arrest and use of the unit as a number of complaints have now been filed with them regarding the use of the unit to arrest a producer of a youtube channel.
The question we know have to ask, is will NSW Law Enforcement Conduct Unit find that the use of the Fixated Persons Investigation Unit was the “wrong” department to be handling this, and even if they do find that it was a breach of the units powers what would that mean for the court case in front of the NSW court?
