Kununurra, Western Australia – A 41-year-old senior constable from the Kimberley district of the Western Australia Police Force has been charged with multiple crimes following an investigation into reported family violence incidents. The WA Police Force Twitter account posted the announcement on February 10, 2023, at 10:59 a.m.
The officer was stood down from duty and is due to appear in the Kununurra Magistrates Court on 10 February 2023.

According to the tweet, the senior constable will be facing five charges of common assault in circumstances of aggravation, five charges of breach of a violence restraining order, and one charge of persistently engaging in family violence. The incidents in question reportedly took place between August and September 2013 and November 29, 2022.
As a result of the charges, the senior constable has been stood down from duty and is scheduled to appear in the Kununurra Magistrates Court later today.
The charges come as a shock to many in the community, as police officers are expected to uphold the law and serve as a model of justice and accountability. The WA Police Force has stated that it takes all allegations of family violence and criminal behavior very seriously and that it will continue to work with the judicial system to ensure that justice is served in this case.
